In 1948 Ivo Caprino started shooting his first puppet movie. In the following year, it was premiered as a trailer at the Klingenberg cinema in Oslo.

In his book on the history of Norwegian cinema, Sigurd Evensmo described the movie as "...a cheerful little spring flower in the thawing snow" and Ivo Caprino as "...a newcomer on the way to producing movies that were soon to delight children and adults alike, and which also reached international audiences, where they met with an acclaim bestowed on few other Norwegian movies."
